Adult vaccines aren’t just about you—they protect your family, coworkers, and community. Immunity from childhood shots fades, and new threats emerge, so staying updated prevents serious illness, missed work, and medical bills. A quick shot can mean weeks of normal life… instead of weeks in bed.
In addition to the annual seasonal flu vaccine, here’s what’s recommended for most adults:
- TDP booster (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis/whooping cough)— every 10 years
- Shingles—Ages 50 and older
- Pneumonia—Ages 65 and older
- HPV (human papillomaviruses)— up to age 26
You may benefit from other vaccines based on your age, health conditions, job, lifestyle, or travel habits, such as Hepatitis B and MMR (measles, mumps, & rubella).
See recommended vaccination schedules at cdc.gov/vaccines and ask your doctor which vaccines are right for you. Not sure if you’ve had a vaccine? Ask your provider about a blood test to check your immunity (may be subject to the deductible and coinsurance for your Plan).
Your Health Plan covers recommended vaccines at 100% when you use an in-network provider or pharmacy. Find one here at bledsoehealthtrust.org.
1 in 3 people will develop shingles in their lifetime, but only two-thirds of adults over 50 have received the shingles vaccine—which is 97% effective.
